Characterization of Heat-Polymerized Monomer Formulations for Dental Infiltrated Ceramic Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
(1) Objectives: This work examined properties of dental monomer formulations an aromatic dimethacylate (BisGMA), aliphatic urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA), and triethylene glycol (TEGDMA). The monomers were combined in different ratio heat-polymerized containing the initiator benzoyl peroxide (BPO) specifically for purpose infiltration into polymer-infiltrated composite structures. (2) Methods: weight ratios underwent rheological analysis (viscosity temperature dependence), degree conversion, mechanical (elastic modulus, hardness, fracture toughness). (3) Results: Rheological showed Newtonian behavior with a large dependence on temperature. addition BPO allowed gelation range 72.0–75.9 °C. Degree conversion was found between 74% 87% DC, unaffected by increase TEGDMA (up to 70 wt%). Elastic toughness inversely proportional TEGDMA. modulus hardness slightly increased UDMA versus BisGMA formulations, while ranged 0.26 0.93 MPa·m0.5 UDMA- 0.18 0.68 BisGMA-based formulations. (4) Significance: Heat-polymerization allows greater based viscosity when selecting infiltrated Therefore, selection should be properties. measured data reduced at higher UDMA:TEGDMA favor such over BisGMA:TEGDMA mixtures.

PURPOSE The objective of this study was to compare the fracture toughness (KIc) obtained from the single edge V-notched beam (SEVNB) and the fractographic analysis (FTA) of a glass-infiltrated and a zirconia ceramic. MATERIALS AND METHODS For each material, ten bar-shaped specimens were prepared for the SEVNB method (3 mm × 4 mm × 25 mm) and the FTA method (2 mm × 4 mm × 25 mm). The starter V...
